COLUMBIA, OK - Postcard 1908

Postcard mailed from Columbia, OK in 1908. The town, located in northeast Kingfisher County, is now completely non-existent, with no trace of the former townsite remaining. Only a few old-timers can still point out where the Odd Fellows Hall once stood. The town failed soon after the Rock Island Railroad installed a north-south line several miles east of Columbia. Had the route gone through Columbia, the town would likely have flourished.

Actually you can still see where the townsite once stood. It's seven miles south of Hwy 51 on Sharidan Rd. On the North-west corner is where Columbia used to be. You can still see the two main principle streets and the actual townsite is fenced off. My great great grandfather, John Teasly had a quarter of a section just 1/4 of a mile west of Columbia and all of my dad's family belonged to that Odd Fellows lodge, which relocated in the 1960's to Crescent and then folded in the 1980's.

My Grandparents, Emory and Virginia Siegmann, farm is 3 miles south of 51 just off of Sharidan road on the north side of the farm road just inside Skeleton Twp.
